2005 Season is Over!
Bethany finished in third place in the
fall series, fourth place in the spring series, and fifth place
for Year End Championship Points. A lot of the credit goes to Crew Chief
John Brown, the new Margay chassis, MCR engines, and a kiss from Lady Luck!

About Our 2003 Team...
KartGirls Racing is comprised of a
Mother/Daughter kart racing team. 2003 was our rookie season.
Bethany finished 1st place in Powder Puff and tied for 5th place in KT100+30. Jessica
finished 4th place in Jr. 1 2-Cycle Novice (one 1st place finish and two 2nd
place finishes before moving up to the next class), 10th place in Jr. 1 2-cycle
(in two races), and 5th place in Jr. Sportsman (in two races). We had an awesome
first year!
After the season was over, Bethany was
elected to the Bakersfield Kart Club Executive Board of Directors as the
Secretary for 2004. Both Bethany and Jessica volunteered to become
permanent Registration Booth workers so that's where you can find us on race
day mornings.
2004
Was Better...
It was for Bethany anyway! Finishing in third and
fourth almost all season, she took Fourth Place in Championship points at the
end of the year out of 29 drivers in the KT100+30 class. It was an
exciting season with a couple of crashes, but no major damage to driver or
equipment.
Unfortunately, Jessica was sick the entire 2004 season.
At one event her arm was driven over and badly bruised, but she insisted on
wearing a brace and driving her main. At another event a kart landed on
her steering wheel and broke her thumb. Of course, Jessica wouldn't even
consider not racing the rest of the day! She had to finish her race!
Though she was exhausted by the time the main events began and even had to skip
two of the race dates, Jessica came in 8th place in Championship points out of
23 drivers in the Junior Sportsman class.
Bethany
was re-elected to BKC's Executive Board of Directors for the 2005 season in two
seconds flat.
Amazing how fast they can open nominations, nominate, close nominations and
vote! (This was a good thing, because she wasn't ready to give up the Secretary's
position anyway!)
Both ladies are now taking over the head positions at the
Registration Booth so if there are any problems you know who to talk to!
Bethany will also be processing new memberships for
Bakersfield Kart Club this season. The forms are available on the BKC
website if you would like to become a member.
2005 is a Whole New Era...

We will be running with a new crew, new sponsors,
new driving suits and new
equipment this year. Our newly acquired 2003 16' Haulmark Silver Edition race
trailer sponsored by R.A.M Construction Co. will be a great help getting us to
the track and housing us until we can find a travel trailer or motorhome to
sleep in (any offers?). It comes complete with a double-deck kart setup
that transforms into two full-size beds while two karts are parked underneath!
With room for our karts, parts and tools, we are ready to race again!
Special thanks to all who offered to help us
stay in kart racing! We feel so fortunate to have so many friends at BKC.
As soon as the word was out that we didn't have a crew or equipment to get to
the track we had offers of travel trailers, race trailers, man power at the
track and all the food we could eat!
Many thanks to our new Crew Chief, John Brown for all his help
getting ready for the February race. He quickly came to our rescue when he
found out our truck was broken and we had no trailer. John drove an hour
out to our house in the pouring rain to pick up our karts, prep them and took
them to the track Saturday morning fully prepared to be our crew chief.
Unfortunately, the race was cancelled due to rain. John hauled
the karts back home again the following week. Thanks for all your help, John!
Rod Jernagan also came to our rescue on that
same rained-out race day. Many thanks to Rod for going on an 10-hour road
trip in the pouring rain to help us pick up the Haulmark trailer and delivering
it back to our house. Without Rod's help it would have been a very
challenging trip for us to haul it back. I haven't pulled a trailer in
years! Thanks again, Rod!
For the most part, we had an excellent year.
There were no major incidents or injuries. Bethany ran all ten events
taking a third place,
